Entwicklungsgeschichte der ARRI TRINITY 2
2015
Im Jahr 2015 entwickelte Curt O. Schaller gemeinsam mit dem promovierten Ingenieur Roman Foltyn das Trinity-System: Es war das erste Kamerastabilisierungssystem der Welt, das ein mechanisches Stabilisierungssystem mit einem elektronischen kombinierte und es gilt noch heute als das fortschrittlichste Kamerastabilisierungssystem der Welt.
Das Trinity-Kamerastabilisierungssystem (ARRI Trinity & ARRI TRINITY 2) wurde unter anderem in Kino-Produktionen wie „1917“ (2019) von Sam Mendes und „Mission: Impossible“ (2023, 2025) von Christopher McQuarrie sowie bei Live-Events wie der „Super Bowl“-Halbzeit-Show (2022 – 2026) und den „Grammy Awards“ (2021 – 2025) eingesetzt.

2022 brachte ARRI die zweite Generation der Trinity, die ARRI TRINITY 2 auf den Markt.
2025
Im Jahr 2025 wurde Curt O. Schaller für das Konzept, das Design und die Entwicklung des TRINITY 2-Kamerastabilisierungssystems und Dr. Roman Foltyn für das Software- und Hardware-Design des motorisierten stabilisierten Kopfes mit dem Oscar für Wissenschaft und Entwicklung, dem Academy Scientific and Engineering Award ausgezeichnet.

In der Erklärung der Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hieß es:
„The ARRI TRINITY 2 is a body-worn system that combines a traditional inertial camera stabilization system with electronic gimbal technology, allowing unprecedented freedom of camera movement for acquiring shots with multiple transitions that are otherwise unobtainable.“
„Die ARRI TRINITY 2 ist ein am Körper getragenes System, das ein traditionelles Trägheitskamerastabilisierungssystem mit einer elektronischen Gimbal-Technologie kombiniert und so eine beispiellose Freiheit der Kamerabewegung ermöglicht, um Aufnahmen mit mehreren Übergängen zu machen, die sonst nicht möglich wären.“

Der Scientific and Engineering Award der Academy wird für Leistungen verliehen, die ein hohes Maß an Ingenieurskunst aufweisen und für den Fortschritt der Filmindustrie von entscheidender Bedeutung sind.
